Well-being: The Benefits of Connecting

You may have seen an earlier blog by Lifespark introducing our new Lifespark Connect service as part of a full continuum of guidance.  But what are the benefits of connecting?

That is the biggest question, why connect?  We are connected in so many other ways in our society.  We are connected to our favorite news station, radio station, television show, department store (or in my case stores), doctor, dentist and so on. Our reasons for connecting are uniquely our own. To me connecting means I get great information on what is on sale, what to watch, what to listen to, and learn things that I wasn’t expecting to learn.  There are many benefits to connecting to your favorite organization, store, or resource.

But why connect with a company that provides life care?  What does that mean?

More and more people are connecting to get information and education before they are caught in a crisis.  Whom do you turn to for great resources on finding a memory care facility, a hospice provider, home care provider, adult day program, geriatric care manager, or assisted living? Those are big, life changing decisions; wouldn’t it be nice to have a good understanding of your options before you need them? A study of almost 12 million people published by the New England Journal of Medicine found that after an initial incident, 1 in 5 people aged 65 and better were re-hospitalized within 30 days.  More alarming, 1 in 3 were re-hospitalized in 90 days.  It is very difficult to make good decisions in that situation, and frankly you may not be the one making those decisions either.

Connecting with a life care company means you have a trusted resource for life-changing health care decisions.  But it is much more than that.  It means you are connected to an organization that wants you to live with purpose and passion from now until your last breath.   Even if you feel you are already living with the most passion and purpose, you can still benefit by getting connected.  You would learn about amazing people who have shared their stories.  Or you could share your story! You would learn more about living a Sparked Life, sharing in the wisdom and experience of others.  In addition you will learn more about many other topics pertinent to those in the second half of life.  Topics such as long-term care, Medicare Home Health, loneliness, happiness, volunteer opportunities, or even resources to find paid employment.

Lastly, this service is available to you 24/7.  It is a no cost, no obligation program.  It’s not that you are not a thriving independent person either. It’s actually the opposite. You are being proactive and conscientious of your well-being.
