Lifesprk Invests in Executive Talent to Support Growth

Elmer Baldwin to Drive Growth and Scalable, Tech-Enabled Senior Services Platform

Lifesprk, leader in whole person senior services, announces that Elmer Baldwin has been named President. He is a seasoned technology and services industries executive, investment banker, and longtime advisor to Lifesprk. In his new role, Baldwin will further develop Lifesprk’s business model, refine the execution strategy, and integrate the various delivery systems within Lifesprk as the company enters a new phase of rapid growth. Former President, Tom Schmitt has accepted the role of Executive Director of Value-Based Payment Strategy and Growth at Lifesprk to establish new partnerships and contracts with payors, providers, and strategic partners.

“Lifesprk is driving transformational change in the senior services industry in Minnesota and beyond with integrated, whole-person centric home and community-based services,” said Baldwin. “We are growing in all our lines of business, including community-based in-home services, Medicare skilled home care, property management, primary care, acute care at home, and hospice, while investing in our value-based, tech-enabled alternative delivery system designed to help seniors age magnificently.”

Joel Theisen, Lifesprk CEO said, “Breaking down the ‘sick care’ system has been the driving force behind our efforts and initiatives for years because we know a better life experience is created when all the elements of wellbeing align. Elmer shares our values and vision and possesses a unique combination of financial rigor, strategic thinking, mastery of complex systems, and operational execution to drive scalability, growth, and our health tech innovations including our ELR (Electronic Life Record).”

Baldwin has a 30-year track record building and operating companies, including 20 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of five companies. “Elmer has a deep competency in building knowledge-based services businesses, especially those with heavy emphasis on skilled workforce, software, and technology,” added Theisen. “The timing is right for Lifesprk as we face accelerated demand for home and community-based solutions in response to the pandemic. COVID-19 has forced health care systems to make dramatic adjustments to how they deliver care, and payors to speed up strategies that deliver higher value and lower cost.”

For the past 10+ years, Baldwin has been a Lifesprk advisory board member and has both experienced and supported the Lifesprk journey firsthand. Most recently, he helped develop Lifesprk’s strategic growth plans and guided them through the investor search process that led to the $16.1 investment with the Virgo Investment Group.

Most recently, Baldwin served as Senior Executive Director of Technology Investment Banking with Minneapolis-based Cherry Tree & Associates as well as serving as a board member and an advisor to a portfolio of growth companies.

“For me, joining Lifesprk is personal. I experienced my elderly mother’s late-life journey as her primary care coordinator. My family and I experienced first-hand the fragmented, broken, and siloed senior ‘sick care’ system,” said Baldwin. “I’m dedicating my professional energy to the mission of serving our fragile and vulnerable senior population with the services necessary to enable them to age magnificently, in control, and with respect.”
