Client Stories

Moment of Beauty Brightens the Soul

Moment of Beauty Brightens the SoulEdith Grossman loves to socialize and get pampered. “My mother has exquisite taste and an eye for good design,” said Jane Jenni, Edith’s daughter. According to Jenni, Edith had a weekly hair and manicure appointment as far back as she could remember. Evenings were often spent socializing at Oak Ridge Country Club. “And she especially loved shopping in Dayton’s Oval Room during their sales,” added Jenni. Edith was a woman who always took pride in her appearance.

Today, Edith lives in Memory Care at Parkshore, a SilverCrest property where Lifesprk provides the Lifesprk Experience™ to their residents. Her Lifesprk Life Care Manager (LCM), a registered nurse, Jody, checks in on her a few times a week to see how things are going. “Life Care Management is more than medical care, it’s caring for the whole person, what motivates and energizes them,” said Jody. “We are given the room to do whatever it takes to make our clients feel sparked. I knew exactly what Edith’s would want,” recalled Jody. “It was time to pamper Edith and give her the royal treatment.” Jody arranged for a friend, a MaryKay Director, to provide an in-house spa day at Parkshore for Edith.

“Edith is a very elegant lady,” said Jody. “It wasn’t enough to get her hair and nails done; we bought her a new outfit to go with it, including a strand of pearls to accent and match her demeanor.” As Edith sat in her chair, Marge applied her makeup, painted her nails red, the color Edith had chosen to match her new sweater. “I watched my mom be pampered and was amazed at the way she continued to carry herself,” said Jenni. “Her smile was as bright and powerful as the red she chose.”

The entire staff and campus participated in the spa day, taking photos and even sending her flowers in honor of her special day. Jenni was so impressed with the way her mother looked that she decided to take her out for dinner to further show off her makeover.

“Edith’s wish was a team effort,” said Jody. “She never glowed so much as on that day and it had nothing to do with the makeup. She was happy to feel alive again.”
