A Wish to Dance Again for Lois

Lois dancing_Ballroom Wish summit 137 - Lois Reller-daughter-approvedLois has always loved music. According to her Lifesprk Life Care Manager (LCM), a registered nurse, Lois was raised on farm land in Killdeer, North Dakota, and anytime there was music in the town, her whole family would dance. Music holds many special memories for her. At 85 years old, she has great remembrances of dressing up and swirling to the magical music at balls and other events.

When Lois first came to Summit Place, a SilverCrest property where Lifesprk partners with them to provide the Lifesprk Experience™ on-campus, Lois’s LCM started asking Lois about her passions. Lois had just come from a rehabilitation center in Arkansas, where she had been told she’d never walk again. Those memories of dancing came to her mind, and she told her LCM her wish: I want to dance again.

And so the Lifesprk team together with SilverCrest arranged for Lois to dance!

Lois’s daughter brought in a special dress, shoes and accessories. The music was donated by local singer Maud Hixson, who was accompanied by her husband pianist Rick Carlson. To make the afternoon even more magical, Boyd Huppert from KARE-11 TV was on site to film this moment as the final segment in the special feature he was doing on Lifesprk stories and our innovative Lifesprk Experience™.
