Join the Conversation on May 9 in Minneapolis
Joel Theisen has a clear vision for the future: change the experience for people in the second half of life. His true joy is to see the spark in peoples’ eyes – clients, families, partners, employees, professional referral sources – when they live a sparked life.
As founder and CEO of Lifesprk (formerly AgeWell) based in Edina, MN, Joel has been working for more than 20 years to eliminate the roller coaster of crisis that he has seen rob far too many people of their spark. Under his guidance, Lifesprk, formerly AgeWell, has been one of the fastest growing companies in the Twin Cities since its founding in 2004. Prior to that, Joel served as Chief Executive Officer for AdvoLife, Inc., a venture-backed company in San Jose, CA.
Joel began his healthcare leadership experience as the National Director of Private Pay Services for In Home Health, Inc., a national provider of comprehensive home health services. He trained as a critical-care nurse at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and graduated from Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Joel will be the featured local speaker on the roster for the Second Wind Tour when it stops in Minneapolis, MN on May 9. He will also serve as regional faculty for the Second Wind Tour’s northeast swing, sharing his story in Buffalo, NY, Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Hartford, CT, and Philadelphia, PA in June. “This will be a once-in-a-lifetime event to start a new conversation about the opportunities for catching our second wind,” explains Theisen. “People will remember where this conversation started . . . and they will look back to this inspiring event developed by Dr. Bill Thomas, the founder and innovative thinker behind the Eden Alternative and the Greenhouse Project.”
During his performance, Joel will be sharing more about his story and also why he is so passionate about changing the experience.
Known as a business innovator, Joel has earned numerous accolades, including being named one of the Twin Cities’ 40 under 40 in 2007 and honored as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award® finalist for the Upper Midwest in 2011. Joel has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry with specific expertise in home- and community-based elder care.
Under Joel’s guidance, Lifesprk has been one of the fastest growing companies in the Twin Cities, experiencing double-digit growth almost since its founding in 2004. The company is the leading provider of Life Experience (a unique blend of geriatric care management and home care) in the metro, and is becoming a national catalyst to eliminate the roller coaster of health care crises.
In addition, Lifesprk was named one of the 2009 Small Business Success Stories by Twin Cities Business Magazine and has been identified by the Star Tribune as a top workplace in the Twin Cities for two years in a row. Also in 2012, Lifesprk was named a Fast 50 for the state of Minnesota, marking the third time in five years that Lifesprk has been among the fastest growing private companies in the state.
Joel is looking for thought-leaders, innovative teams, and people who want to improve the experience to be part of the conversation that will help shape and craft the change ahead – starting May 9 with this inspiring, thought-provoking event.
